Last Olympics for the 20th Century Nagano McDonald Pin

Welcome to my little pin collection in cyberspace, where I have fun scrounging around online seeking out 1984 Olympic pins to complete my collection. My goal is to collect every transportation, media, Coca-Cola, and McDonald Olympic pin pictured in this guide, published by Long Hills, Inc.:

1984 Pin Collector's Guide

What makes collecting Olympic pins fun is that I get a chance to relive the excitement I felt during my summer job working for the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee during the 1984 Summer Olympics. I was a UCLA college student then. My job was to arrange transportation for the press and media who came from all over the world to cover the different sports events.

I met Howard Cosell and practiced my German with foreign press officials. As you might guess, then, my favorite pins to collect are Olympic transportation and media pins.

One of my favorite media pins is pictured below:

Pin Collecting Links

Here are some of my favorite online pin collecting hangouts:

Olympic Pins and Collectibles
This site, hosted by Sam Evans, has the world's largest Internet collection of pins! It is also one of the few sites where pictures of the Pins download very quickly.

The Mining Company's Pin Collecting
A great resource for learning more about trading in chat rooms, where to go online to find pins, and how to trade nicely.

www.pinheads.net
Explore real-time bulletin boards, pin show calendars, chat, and links. Also an exceptional visual display of pins, worth the download wait.

Pin Marketplace
A great selection of pins for sale.

Developing a "Hot Trader" Pin
A tutorial in pin design by the Pin Man. This is an interesting idea. I met Fred Heubner of McFred online who is a McDonald's franchise Owner/Operator. Fred is designing the first McDonald's Olympic Pin ever authorized to be made for an owner/operator of McDonald's!

The History of Pin Trading
The 1984 Los Angeles Games were the first Olympic Games to make a pin guide for people on the basic rules of trading pins.
