How relaxing...

Here you'll find information on my favorite activities.

I collect a lot of things, mainly for their cultural, historic, and geographic value:

Olympic Pin Collecting
World Coin Collecting
Beanie Babies
David Winter Cottages
Online Shopping Link Collection

I am very active in sports:

Racquetball
I started playing 3-wall racquetball in high school;
then I went on to play in 4-wall racquetball tournaments throughout Europe during my early days in the Army;
I continued to play racquetball in college (UCLA);
now I play racquetball on a weekly basis to keep my head clear and my blood flowing.

Mountain Biking
I have a 1999 TREK 7000, 13-inch mountain bike with lot's of upgrades. It's considered a 'hardtail' because I have only front suspension (RoxShox Judy XC) for uphill climbing. If your butt hurts on long rides like mine did, go for the RoxShox seat post - what a plush ride! The GripShifters are awesome. Instead of thumbshifters, they work like a throttle does on a motorcycle: you shift gears by rotating grips located on your handlebars.

Have you ever been to a mountain bike clinic? I am going to my first one - sponsored by WOMBATS (Woman's Mountain Bike & Teas Society) for their 1999 Jamboree at Winter Park, Colorado. Check out their happenings page to see if there is a bike event near you. This will also be the first time I ship my bike. Here are some helpful links I found in the course of my online research:

Skiing
I learned how to ski in the German Alps. I've skiied in Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and the mountains of California. I'm probably a very good intermediate skier. I was going to celebrate the New Millenium by skiing down my first advanced black diamond ski run. To date, I've been working on technique and speed on the intermediate blue ski runs.

One of my favorite skiing hangouts is at Heavenly, South Lake Tahoe, March 1999.
If you ever go there, take the Sky Express ski lift on the California side. Once at the top of the mountain, which has the highest elevation in the area at 10,100 feet, take your skiis off, and walk towards your right. With a few uphill steps, you will come to the ridge of the mountain and witness a most spectacular view that overlooks Nevada.

Online Shopping

I like searching for quality at the best price. But I would rather search for these things online rather than roam through malls or drive long distances to find the same thing. That's why Online Shopping is really appealing to me.

When it's that time of year for graduations and weddings, champagne is one of my favorite gifts to give. I originally visited 800 Spirits Corporate Gift Catalog online to have a special bottle of Dom Perignon, Vintage 1985 delivered for a special occasion. When I called their 800 number several times, there was no answer! Then I stumbled upon Golden West International of San Francisco and was delighted to get immediate service, which included an immediate call back in the course of checking with a dealer on the particular vintage I was looking for!

The Internet is a great place to buy hard-to-find items. My favorite perfume is Calandre by Paco Rabanne. It debuted in 1979, and slowly disappeared from the stores over time. I found Empire Perfumes in New York, where I now submit my annual order.

Another great online shopping resource is Reel.com, the Planet's Biggest Movie Store. Not only can you make secure online purchases for hard-to-find videos, you can also rent videos by mail and take online film classes from Cinema.u. What a great resource for being entertained and educated at the same time.

Why not try an online auction for fun? At eBay, you can buy and sell items online. You can find stuff, bid on stuff, and sell stuff. They have close to 150,000 items for sale in over 370 categories. But be sure to register first.

I've been looking for an inexpensive and single resource to purchase the CD-ROM version of my favorite 1980's cassette tapes. I found it - CD NOW! Not only are the prices great, you can search and hear Real Audio clips of the music before you buy. The owners of this site started the business out of their home. Pretty cool! If you want the lyrics of any of the songs you buy on CD, try this awesome International Lyrics Server where you can find the lyrics to over 74,000 songs!
